Director – Martha Canfield Library (Arlington, VT)

The Martha Canfield Library in Arlington, Vermont is seeking an energetic, efficient, organized, and self-motivated person to be Director of our small and dynamic library.  We strive to be an active hub in our amazing rural community.  Steeped in history, Arlington is a picturesque and vibrant small town.  As the local library, we have space, activities and events for all ages and serve a variety of functions.  We partner with many area entities including the schools, community center and health services.  Housed in a newer building neighboring both town’s schools, the Martha Canfield Library is a valuable community asset.
The Director manages all aspects of running a library, supervises other staff and volunteers, works closely with our Board of Trustees, and collaborates with various community endeavors. With excellent communication, promotion, planning and organizational skills, the Director will work to maintain and to continue to grow our library and its services.
Qualifications are nonprofit administration or library experience preferred.  A bachelor’s degree is required, with a willingness to earn Vermont Certificate of Public Librarianship within 3 years of employment if the degree is not directly related.  The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience and have successfully worked with volunteers.  This is a 32-hour per week position with a salary range of $45k-$50k.  Compensation package includes a retirement plan and generous leave time.  The anticipated start date is the end of May.
