General Description:
The Highgate Library & Community Center is looking to hire a part-time (15-20 hours a week) Library Programming Coordinator. The Library Programming Coordinator will perform a broad range of tasks including, but not limited to, the following: developing effective programs and overseeing programming events/activities/crafts, ensuring programming projects are completed on time, leading library programs independently, as well as directing programming volunteers, managing and delegating programming tasks and timelines, monitoring program budgets and prioritizing programming funds within the library’s annual budget under the direction of HLCC’s Library Director, create marketing materials that aligns with library’s branding standards, promote all library programs to the public, participating in local community outreach opportunities, and assisting in daily tasks assigned by the Highgate Library & Community Center Library Director. This position requires flexible availability and starts at $18.00/hr.
The Library Programming Coordinator position requires an organized and friendly individual who is an independent leader and enjoys working with people of all ages. The position requires the ability to manage various timelines, schedules, and programming expenditures. This position requires the coordination and overseeing of all library programs at Highgate Library & Community Center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing effective library programs for all ages
- Creating, preparing, and/or delegating all library program crafts in a timely manner
- Overseeing all library programs under the direction of HLCC’s Library Director
- Facilitating weekly programming events independently
- Recruiting and directing HLCC’s programming volunteers
- Managing the library’s programming budgets under the direction of HLCC’s Library Director
- Assisting patrons in finding materials to match their reading interests
- Positively promoting all library programs and services to the public
- Developing and publishing marketing materials under the library’s brand standards
- Filling in as needed for Highgate Library & Community Center staff to cover vacations/sick time
- General clerical work such as answering the telephone and routing calls/messages as necessary
- Performing opening and closing procedures as necessary
- Performing daily tasks to keep the overall library neat, clean, and organized
Minimum Qualifications:
- A high school education is required
- Prior experience in multi-generational programming planning is an asset
- Basic knowledge of library procedures and methods is a plus but not mandatory
- Computer experience including the use of the Microsoft Office and the Internet is required
- Must have exceptional communication skills when interacting with patrons in person and over the phone
- Must pass a background check
