Calling it the “Vermont Transparency Tour,” the Secretary of State’s office announced this week that it has scheduled a series of upcoming training sessions to educate local and state officials—as well as Vermonters—about our state’s open government laws covering public records and open meetings.
Secretary of State Jim Condos said he developed the idea in response to complaints he had been receiving about a lack of training and understanding about Vermont’s laws governing open government.
There are 12 training sessions scheduled and each will go from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Here are the dates and locations:
October 11 – Montpelier – Pavilion Building
October 13 – Colchester – St. Michael’s College, McCarthy Arts Center
October 20 – Newport – Goodrich Library
October 25 – St. Albans – St. Albans City Hall
October 26 – Springfield – Springfield High School
October 27 – Brattleboro – Brattleboro Selectboard Office
November 1 – St. Johnsbury – St. Johnsbury School Auditorium
November 3 – Morrisville – Morrisville Community Room
November 7 – Middlebury – Ilsley Public Library
November 9 – Bennington – Bennington Fire Station
November 17 – Rutland – Rutland City Hall
November 22 – Hartford – Bugby Senior Center
