Reference & Teaching Resources Librarian – Community College of Vermont (Flexible location within CCV centers)

The Community College of Vermont seeks an innovative, flexible, and collaborative professional for the position of Reference and Teaching Resources Librarian. As a member of VSCS Library team, this position serves the reference and instruction needs of CCV students and faculty, and partners with the librarians and library staff from Vermont State University as well as the Chancellor’s office in providing comprehensive library services to both college communities.

The Reference & Teaching Resources Librarian plays a key role in supporting the college’s efforts to promote alternatives to high-cost instructional materials and use of innovative teaching resources, including Open Educational Resources, eReserves, and library-licensed databases and streaming media.

In providing online services and remote access to library resources, CCV librarians work outside of a traditional library setting. The location is flexible within CCV centers.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Reference & Teaching Resources librarian provides reference services to faculty and students, develops and curates content for the library in a liaison structure, partners with relevant college departments to enhance online instruction and use of open educational resources, provides robust information literacy curricular integration, and helps faculty promote lifelong learning and 21st century career skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership and collaborate in the planning, coordination, and delivery of the library’s information literacy education and outreach activities.
  • Provide faculty outreach related to instructional materials and manage information literacy and academic research instruction and consultations online and virtually.
  • Lead project work with other VSCS librarians to create digital learning objects, including online research guides and video tutorials, and assist faculty in adapting and embedding these instructional tools in Canvas, the learning management system.
  • Work with VSCS Library Director to develop and maintain effective policies and procedures for virtual reference and instruction.
  • Provide reference service and research support to remote students and faculty via live chat and email.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the navigation and maintenance of LibGuides content management system (CMS) for online research guides in addition to other Springshare products.
  • Contribute to the creation of information literacy and library instructional content, across a number of platforms.
  • Collaborate with other librarians on future e-reserves initiatives and faculty outreach related to instructional materials, including maintenance of guides dedicated to Open Educational Resources and Textbook Alternatives.
  • Serve on system-wide library committees. Serve as a liaison to CCV Curricular Committees and contribute to collection development efforts in assigned subject areas.
  • Support course development initiatives, in collaboration with faculty, curricular committees, and other VSC stakeholders.
  • Conduct and facilitate faculty professional development in use of open-access educational resources in teaching and learning.
  • Assist faculty in finding and incorporating library resources that support DEI learning objectives and equity-based curriculum.
  • Promote library information and news via cross-campus communications.
  • Keep abreast of current developments and trends in librarianship and instructional technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
