Job Title: Librarian-Adult Services
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Reports to: Athenaeum Director
Salary Range: $21.00 to $23.00 an hour, 40 hours per week

Summary:
The Adult Services Librarian performs a wide variety of information and reference services; developing and conducting programming; instructing patrons in the use of library resources and technology; and assisting with collection development
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve adult customers at in-person and virtual service points through expert-level reference and technology assistance.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate assigned services, projects, and programs including events outside normal working hours; prepare and train other staff to assist.
- Select and maintain circulating adult collections as assigned and in accordance with the resource selection policy.
- Initiate, plan, and present diverse and creative programs in support of department goals and community needs
- Plan, promote, and provide outreach services for community members and organizations
- Ensure good stewardship of physical and virtual spaces by preparing displays, and by producing content for the Library’s website.
- Actively promote library services, materials, and programs to customers.
- Respond to and resolve customer questions, concerns, and complaints.
- Serve on planning committees, attend library meetings and outreach activities as requested.
- Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Athenaeum Director.
Required Education and Experience:
MLS or MLIS and minimum of one year of professional library experience preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree, VT Department of Libraries Certification and at least two years of library experience, or the equivalent are encouraged to apply.
This position is 40 hours per week and may require evening and weekend hours. The position includes some benefit options.
