Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Full-time onsite, including some evenings and Saturdays. Part-time is possible for a highly qualified candidate.
The Role
The Manchester Community Library seeks an energetic Children & Youth Services Librarian who loves young people. You will assist MCL’s Program Director to creatively plan, develop, and implement services and programs for toddlers, kids, tweens, teens, and their families. You will collaborate with our Collections Development Librarian to select, order, catalog, inventory, and weed materials, primarily for children’s and youth collections. You are a highly motivated individual with proven success in working with children and teens. Strong interpersonal, technology, and communication skills will complement your ability to plan, coordinate, collaborate, and serve our community stakeholders.
Education / Experience
A Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree and/or Vermont Certificate of Public Librarianship, and 3 or more years of working with children and youth in a library or school setting is strongly preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates without an MLIS degree are expected to complete Vermont Certification within 3 years.

Collaborate with the Collections Development Librarian to select, order, catalog, inventory, and weed materials, primarily for children’s and youth collections • Partner with the Program Director and library team to plan, develop, and implement services and programs • Coordinate and train library staff and volunteers • Support programs with events, acquisitions, exhibits, grant development, and reports • Collaboratively help organize and run summer programs • Identify and track key budget and expense performance indicators • Assist in the development of communications and promotion of library services and programs • Engage in ongoing professional development • Embrace a welcoming, patron-first culture with regular help desk coverage • Support local schools and community groups to develop and expand children and teen services
Compensation
Salary range: $42,000 – $48,000 annually
