Library Assistant (Temporary) – Greensboro Free Library (Greensboro, VT)

The Greensboro Free Library is seeking a temporary part time Library Assistant to help support daily operations and help serve our community.

This position provides coverage during a staff leave and will run from April through mid July. It offers a mix of public service and behind the scenes work. We are looking for someone who is friendly, reliable, and comfortable using computers, as the role includes assisting patrons with technology, working within library systems, and supporting basic promotional materials.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting patrons at the front desk
  • Checking materials in and out, including shelving
  • Helping with computers, printing, and basic tech questions
  • Helping manage interlibrary loan requests and processing incoming materials
  • Supporting programs and events
  • Assisting with simple promotional materials and displays

Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service skills and a welcoming presence
  • Comfort with computers and general technology
  • Experience with Google Docs or similar tools
  • Ability to learn and navigate new systems (library database, website updates, etc.)
  • Ability to stay organized and pay attention to detail
  • Interest in libraries and community engagement

Schedule:
Part time, primarily weekday daytime hours. Evening and weekend shifts are limited to occasional programs and coverage.

Compensation:
$17–$19 per hour, depending on experience.
