The Kingston Community Library (KCL) Board of Trustees are delighted to begin our search for an enthusiastic and creative Library Director to lead our experienced and dedicated team of staff and community volunteers. Our ideal candidate is innovative, tech-savvy, organized and an effective communicator. This person will find ways to support and build upon our strong foundation of children’s, adult and community focused programming and collections while adding new vision, experience and leadership to help us continue to expand our reach and services as an essential part of our thriving town.
A growing community in the Seacoast of New Hampshire, Kingston has a current population of 6,244 residents. The solar powered library’s beautiful and flexible indoor and outdoor spaces make it possible to host a variety of events, activities, meetings and Kide the therapy dog. With endless local and nearby opportunities to explore the region’s history, cities, farms, shops, nature and outdoor activities including hiking, biking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, hunting, fishing, and more, Kingston is a great place to raise a family or begin a new chapter. Our new Director will work closely with the Board of Trustees, full and part time staff, the supportive Friends of the KCL, and the Board of Selectmen to facilitate and oversee all Library operations. The KCL values outreach and connections within the community. The person we are looking for should be able to cultivate effective relationships with the Town Hall, other town officials, The Sanborn School District, community members, in addition to those mentioned above. This role includes both daily oversight responsibilities and longer term roles including but not limited to strategic planning, development and monitoring of the annual operating budget, personnel supervision, facility management, collection development, programming for all ages and needed services.
This is a salaried, exempt position with a minimum of a 40-hour work week that is flexible to include meetings and events that do not fall during normal library hours.
Evening and occasional Saturday hours are required.
Qualifications: Master’s in Library Science from an ALA accredited program is preferred or any equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of four years of progressively responsible library experience including supervisory and administrative work and demonstrated customer service skills.
The salary range is $65,000-76,500, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position’s generous benefit package includes health and dental insurance, NH retirement, and paid sick and vacation time.
