Jericho Town Library (JTL) is excited to announce an opportunity to join our small team as a Library Assistant, with a special focus on coordinating programs and services in our emerging Makerspace. This is a new role at the library, and the successful candidate will help shape the Makerspace as it grows. Up to 9 hours per week, $15/hour.
As part of our mission to enrich the community and inspire lifelong learning, Jericho Town Library established the Makerspace in 2022 on the second floor of our building. A haven for creativity and innovation, the Makerspace includes art supplies, crafting materials, LEGOs, LEGO robotics, Cubelets, and a 3D printer. For most of its existence, the Makerspace has been unstaffed, and kids aged 7 to 18 have been encouraged to explore its tools and materials independently. We are looking for someone who can help us to organize the space, manage the 3d printer, and develop more structured programs for kids and adults. Prior experience with Makerspaces is NOT required, and training will be provided.
The successful candidate will also assist with traditional library operations, such as circulation, shelving, and readers’ advisory.
