Part-time (15 hrs./week), $17/hour. Sick time, vacation time.  Some evenings and weekends required.

Responsibilities:

  • Work the circulation desk Thursdays from 1-3 pm. You may have the option of extra hours at the circulation desk as a substitute for other staff.
  • Collaborate with the Library Director and Youth Librarian to develop programs for both youth and adults.
  • Host/attend all adult programs that align with community interests and needs, including existing programs and plan new ones leveraging your creativity.
  • Design promotional materials (flyers, online content) that effectively give program details and generate excitement.
  • Manage the monthly newsletter and calendar of events, ensuring clear and timely communication with library patrons.
  • Assist with youth programs to ensure a great experience for everyone.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for libraries & diverse communities.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented, creative, and proactive.
  • Familiarity with Facebook and Instagram.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexible evenings & weekends.
  • Technical abilities to use AV equipment, computers and learn new software.

Circulation/Programming Assistant – Brandon Free Public Library (Brandon, VT)

Brandon Free Public Library, an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit library in Brandon, VT is seeking an energetic, community-oriented individual who can interact positively and creatively with patrons and staff.

This is a circulation/programming assistant position, 20 hours per week, starting immediately. The rate of pay is $18.00 per hour with generous vacation/sick time. This is a permanent circulation/programming assistant position.

The position requires some regular evenings and Saturday hours plus additional scheduling. The person in this position will provide direct-service work in the library and out in the community. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities:

  • Circulation/desk work
  • Routine upkeep/organization of library and materials
  • Develop outreach/programming activities for all ages
  • Serve as a community liaison/attend community events
  • Help develop and implement annual summer reading program
  • Library Staffing: assists patrons of all ages in every aspect of using the library, including computer and device troubleshooting
  • Other duties will include shelving, programming preparation, other projects as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Patron-centered public service philosophy, making patrons feel welcome
  • Flexibility, creativity, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Computer experience, which must include ability to work effectively with modern integrated library automation systems, MS Office Suite products (including Word, Excel, and Outlook), WordPress, Google Apps, and social media
  • Comfort with and ability to use established and emerging technology
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to carry up to 50lbs. (books, furniture, etc.)

Youth Programming Coordinator – Platt Memorial Library (Shoreham, VT)

Platt Memorial Library in Shoreham, VT seeks a dynamic and creative part-time Youth Programming Coordinator to work with the Library Director to offer weekly programming to children and families as well as special programs around the year. This position may also include time staffing the circulation desk and providing basic reference service to library patrons.
