New Vermont Online Library Databases: Foreign Languages and Job Help
February 10,  2:00-3:30

This webinar will focus on Vermont Online Library’s new language tool, Powerspeak Languages and Career Transitions, a resource for job searching. Based on the time-tested methods of linguist Dr. Robert Blair, Powerspeak Languages uses an arsenal of approaches that combine systematic learning processes with innovative, yet proven, methods in courses tailored specifically to each language. Powerspeak Languages doesn’t simply rely exclusively on a “listen and repeat” or “rote memorization” approach. It offers what no other language program does — an optimal mix of progressive, yet tried-and-true teaching methods that reflect the latest language learning methods. Five languages are included: Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, and English for Spanish speakers. Career Transitions is a complete, self-paced application that walks job-seekers through the entire process from assessing strengths and interests, to exploring new opportunities, to ultimately improving the chances of landing a job.
