Temporary Part-Time Aide (Sunapee, NH)

The Abbott Library is a busy, dynamic and professional working environment. We are seeking an energetic and engaged part-time library aide to work 15-18 hours a week. Duties will include planning for our popular After School Kids (ASK) program and supervising students in ASK. Candidates must be available to work on Mondays from 2:30 to 4:30 and Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5:00. Planning and preparation for the program can be scheduled with some flexibility within the library’s open hours.

The ability to work some Saturdays and work additional hours when needed is a plus. Ideal candidates will be personable, cheerful, professional and enjoy working with the public. Candidates must have basic computer skills, Internet searching skills and enjoy working with children. Experience working in a library and/or educational setting is a plus.

Description:

The Vermont Department of Libraries is seeking a motivated, creative and public service-minded librarian to serve as Director of Services at the Vermont State Library in Montpelier, Vermont. The Vermont State Library includes the State Law Library, Vermont historical newspapers on microfilm, a Vermontiana collection, Vermont state documents, and is a partial federal documents depository. The Library serves the three branches of state government, the Vermont legal community, and the general public. Under the general supervision of the State Librarian, the Director of State Library Services will lead a team of 4 FTEs, including a Law Librarian and Reference/Interlibrary Loan Librarian and will oversee reference and information services, including reference back-up service for Vermont public libraries and services to State employees, and interlibrary loan. The Director will provide leadership and planning for the State Library, and will also perform duties in reference and interlibrary loan. Successful candidates will be able to perform administrative, managerial, supervisory, professional, technical, customer service, and public relations duties to advance the work of the Vermont State Library. The Director will also take part in other Department planning and program delivery activities as a member of the Department’s Management Team. Duties include: oversight, planning and direction of the Vermont State Library; direct reference and interlibrary loan service; collaboration with state agencies and local libraries; training and instruction to state employees and local library employees; collection development and maintenance; production of materials such as newsletters and bibliographies; creation of tools and resources to enhance reference service; website development/maintenance; grant-writing and grants management; and assessment and evaluation.
