Library Director – Rochester Public Library (Rochester, VT)

The library is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, enthusiastic, and tenacious Library Director. Together with the Children’s Programming Coordinator will plan, promote, and execute all aspects of library service for the community.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Recent employment in a library setting.
  • A bachelor’s degree or a combination of relevant work experience and education.
  • A candidate without a master’s degree in library science will be required to hold a Vermont Certificate of Librarianship within 2 years of employment.

Sample Skill Range Required:

  • Knowledge of library management software systems and cataloging
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to offer multi-genre readers advisory and anticipating and purchasing per community interests
  • Proven fundraising and grant writing experience
  • Creates budgets and tracks financial reports
  • Plans inexpensive and innovative library programming
  • Holds library, nonprofit, business, and/or volunteer management skills
  • Skilled at spreadsheets, word processing, Word Press, and social media
  • Familiar with the use of library databases and e-content

Position To Begin July 1, 2023

  • This is a 22 hour per week position with the library open Tuesday & Thursday 11-6 and Saturday 9-12.
  • Starting pay $20.00/hr. including paid vacation and holidays.
