The Tracy Memorial Library in New London, New Hampshire is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our team at the Circulation Desk during our busy summer season. Located midway between Concord and Hanover and bordered by three lakes, New London is a small, picturesque community with a year-round population of approximately 4,500, which doubles in the summer.  Town amenities include Colby-Sawyer College, New London Hospital, the Barn Playhouse Summer Theater, Town beaches, and easy access to Mt. Sunapee and Ragged Mountain Ski Resorts. Tracy Memorial Library is a 14,000 square foot facility consisting of an historical building (1820s) which was expanded in 1990 and remodeled in 2007.

The ideal candidate will have experience with customer service and working with the public. They will strive to keep a positive attitude and be flexible when needed. Prior experience working in a library is helpful, but not required.

Circulation Assistant responsibilities include greeting and assisting patrons, shelving library materials, using library software to check materials in and out, assisting patrons in locating library materials, assisting patrons with technology, and staffing the circulation desk during open hours. This Substitute Circulation Assistant will be expected to work a minimum of 4 hours per week, with up to 16 hours per week when needed. The schedule for this position will be variable and will include some evenings and Saturdays.

This is a temporary (seasonal), hourly part-time, non-exempt position. Starting wage range is $14.23-$15.71 per hour. Minimum Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and one year of paid library work OR five years of equivalent experience required. Experience with library computer use, including the Internet and MS Office. Experience with Koha and Google Workspace is a plus. Must be able to learn new skills quickly and have excellent customer service skills.The successful candidate will be able to work cooperatively as a team member as well as independently. Must be able to push or pull carts; do a moderate amount of bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, and lift boxes up to 40 pounds.

Pay range – $16.50 – $18.00 depending on experience.

General Purpose
