Associate Director – Biomed Libraries, Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine (Hanover, NH)
The Health Sciences and Biomedical Libraries, part of the Geisel School of Medicine and the Dartmouth Libraries, seeks an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented leader to be our Associate Director for Health Sciences and Biomedical Libraries.
The Associate Director reports to the Associate Dean for Health Sciences and Biomedical Libraries and is a member of its management team. This position is responsible for Education and Information Services and the public services provided to Geisel and Dartmouth Health communities. This includes outreach and engagement, planning programs and services, technology support, and creating programs to support initiatives at Geisel and Dartmouth Health.
Responsibilities include:
- Provides operational leadership for public services areas of the Health Sciences and Biomedical Libraries to propose, develop, implement, and evaluate the core services based on the strategic goals of the Geisel School of Medicine, the Dartmouth Libraries, and Dartmouth College.
- Directly oversees 5-8 staff members; conducts performance reviews; plans or directs activities among team members, resolves conflicts as necessary. Identifies and develops solutions to complex problems, requiring substantial analysis and knowledge. Key participant in the strategic planning efforts of the medical school and library.
- Oversees the departments of Education and Information Services, including management of the library spaces, department staffing, and programs and services. Responsible for coordinating outreach and engagement efforts for the library to the Geisel and DH communities.
- Advocates for staff, promoting a workplace culture of inclusion, equity, and belonging.

Salary and Benefits

Assistant Director – Newbury Public Library (Newbury, NH)
The Newbury Public Library in Newbury New Hampshire seeks a creative, community-minded librarian to join our team as our Assistant Director. As Assistant Director, you will be an essential part of our small but vibrant community library, staffing the circulation desk, supervising the building and staff in the Director’s absence, handling InterLibrary Loans, managing collections, and developing programs. Head Librarian/Director – Highgate Library and Community Center (Highgate VT)

HEAD LIBRARIAN/DIRECTOR
who will plan, manage, and direct the operations, programs, services, and personnel of the Highgate Library and Community Center. This person will manage employees and volunteers, manage library collections, and maintain responsibility of administrative work. A successful candidate will have knowledge of grant funding opportunities and have a history of successful grant writing.
Duties would include, but not be limited to, directing operations of library programs, providing support to the Trustees, working with Trustees to set short and long-term goals for the library, and working towards their execution, oversee personnel administration, and advocating on behalf of the library and community center.
The candidate must be an effective manager, have strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and be knowledgeable of the workings of libraries. Should possess a Certificate of Public Librarianship or a degree in Library Sciences or be willing to work towards accreditation. Prefer 5 years of library experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity. Shall have excellent public speaking, written, and oral communication skills. Will recognize the tremendous opportunity underway in Highgate and work to build partnerships, market the operations of the library and community center, while being responsive to community needs.
Pay range is $42,000-$52,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience.

Library Director – Tracy Memorial Library (New London, NH)
The Tracy Memorial Library seeks a Director who has the skills and experience to provide leadership to all aspects of our thriving town library. The ideal candidate will not only possess the technical and managerial skills of a Director, but will be equally accomplished in building connections with staff, patrons, the community, and other stakeholders of New London, NH. The new Director will be ready to enhance the Library’s role in a world that continues to change.
The Director reports to a seven-member elected governing Board and works collaboratively with the library staff, the Friends of the Library, community partners, and the Town of New London to provide essential library programs to its 4,600 residents. Supported by a $600,000 municipal appropriation, the Library is proud of its many services, including homebound delivery, digital offerings, a public meeting room, museum passes, and the Tracy Little Free Library at Bucklin Beach. The community also enjoys the Olmstead designed Garden at Tracy Library. The garden was completed in 1926 and restored in 2002 with community and financial support. Responsibilities. The Library Director formulates and oversees implementation of library goals, policy recommendations, procedures, programs, and projects in accordance with policies established by the Library Board of Trustees in accordance with the NH Library Association. Providing vision, direction, and leadership, the Director is responsible for, but not limited to, the delivery of library services; oversight of human resources; development and presentation of the annual budget; coordination of collaborative, strong relationships with the Library Board and the Friends of the Library; and a continued knowledge and interest of current trends in public libraries.
Qualifications. Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program and five years of supervisory and managerial library experience. Essential attributes include personal integrity, demonstrated skill and experience with budgeting, excellent interpersonal and consensus-building skills, a focus on creating a culture of trust and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and a demonstrated ability to provide leadership throughout the library. The Director should possess demonstrable communication skills collaborating with the library, its staff and stakeholders and the community. A sense of curiosity, creativity, and innovation; a thorough knowledge of current trends, technologies and “best practices” for libraries; the ability to blend tradition with change; and prior successful experience reporting to a governing Board are desirable attributes and qualifications for the next Tracy Memorial Library Director.
Other Considerations/Requirements. We are looking for someone who is ready to be “the face of Tracy Memorial Library” in our community. Someone who is a great communicator and multi-tasker, who will find innovative ways to connect our services and patrons. Someone who knows the library workday can be variable and include everything from handing a beaming child their first library card to triaging facility issues with grace and patience. Someone who understands and appreciates a much beloved small-town library.
Compensation. The hiring salary range is $70,000-85,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications), and an attractive fringe benefits package.

Position summary: The Library Director shall be responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of the Library, including supervision of volunteers and employees.
