Children & Youth Services Librarian – Manchester Community Library (Manchester Center, VT)

Reports to:  Executive Director
Status: Full-time onsite, flexible schedule, including some evenings and Saturdays.

The Role
The Manchester Community Library seeks an energetic Children & Youth Services Librarian who loves young people. You will collaborate with MCL’s Program Director to creatively plan, develop, and implement services and programs for toddlers, kids, tweens, teens, and their families. You are a highly motivated individual with proven success in working with children and teens. Strong interpersonal, technology, and communication skills will complement your ability to plan, coordinate, collaborate, and serve our community stakeholders.

Education / Experience
A Master of Library and Information Science degree and 3 or more years of working with children and youth in a library setting is strongly preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation

Librarian – Baldwin Memorial Library (Wells River, VT)

Our remarkable librarian of the past 30 years is retiring and the Board of Directors is seeking a creative, energetic, community-oriented, small-town-loving individual to be our new favorite librarian.

The Baldwin is a small, rural library, open 26 hours per week (M-W-F), serving many towns in the Wells River area. It is deeply engaged in and supported by its community.

The librarian’s job at the Baldwin includes the customary duties, as well as:

  • Collaborating with community groups and the local school
  • Helping the public use library materials and technology, including formal and informal training
  • Developing programs that appeal to a variety of ages and interests
  • Developing outreach and other services that extend the library’s reach into the community
  • Developing and organizing displays and exhibits

BASIC FUNCTION

Assist with a full range of paraprofessional / technical support tasks related to one or more primary library functions.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and process information related to the library functions using the VSC integrated library software system and the statewide library network utility.
  • Perform processing of serials or periodicals in the automated library system; maintaining the collection and assisting users in locating and using periodicals and microforms.
