The Richards Free Library of Newport NH seeks a dynamic individual to become Assistant Director.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Responsible for managing the library in the absence of the director.
  • Catalogs all materials and maintains library’s OPAC and oversees materials for processing.
  • Oversees ILL service including streamlining the ILL procedures and training staff in those procedures.
  • Oversees marketing and social media.
  • Responsible for purchasing library supplies.
  • Compiles monthly statistics and deposits.
  • Performs all duties of the circulation desk including assisting patrons with library needs, including:  quick reference, detailed research and reader’s advisory assistance, explanation of policies and procedures to the public, room scheduling, ensure the return of materials and troubleshooting computer and equipment issues.
  • Trains other staff in library systems, procedures and policies.
  • Helps develop and coordinate special projects, programs and grant funding.
  • Manages volunteers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Collection Services Librarian – The Biomedical Libraries (Hanover, NH)

The Collection Services Librarian reports to the Director of Biomedical Libraries and is a member of its management team.   • Managing the Biomedical Libraries’ collections budget, facilitating the selection of materials, gathering input from faculty, and collaborating with other Dartmouth Library staff to provide coordinated collections services.
  • Conducting environmental scans and assessing the collections needs, using data and other analysis, of the Dartmouth community in conjunction with the liaison librarians as needed; creates and implements plans to select and deselect materials regularly.
  • Supervising the Biomedical Libraries’ Interlibrary Loan services, including managing staff.

Performs subject analysis and classification on a broad range and depth of materials. Materials analyzed include print, visual, audio and digital resources. Classification and subject headings assigned by the Cataloging Bibliographer are used to support approval plan profiling and order fulfillment. Creates metadata records at full level RDA standard to support the provision of products supplied by Library Technical Services to accompany purchased content.

Job Description

  • Assist with community engagement via participation in the library’s social media and digital marketing activities
  • Assist with patron access to and use of local history collection and digitization/management of these resources

Qualifications
