The Becker College Learning Commons is currently seeking a forward-thinking self-starter to fill the opening for Learning Commons Librarian. This position works with faculty, students and administration to provide and maintain library services at two college campuses. The ideal applicant will be an innovative, dynamic, skilled librarian capable of managing online, written and face-to-face library services, in conjunction with teaching library principles that incorporate the vision and mission of the College. In addition, the Learning Commons Librarian will conduct and coordinate all instructions determined by Information Literacy initiatives and support library liaisons that integrate into student-learning assessments. This position will work collaboratively with library staff and other departments within the Learning Commons (i.e., Teaching, Learning, and Technology, the Collaborative Learning Center and Information Technology) to ensure optimization of the Libraries’ resources. The Learning Commons Librarian provides leadership for faculty and administration to ensure that instructional programs, resources and services promote the welfare and best interests of students in a manner consistent with our Core values.

Freel Library at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts seeks an engaged and service-oriented Evening and Weekend Circulation Assistant who enjoys working with students and collaborating with others on varied projects. This part-time position provides general library assistance to students, faculty, and staff during evening and weekend hours, including circulation, reserves, and basic information services; creates a welcoming atmosphere for MCLA’s diverse community of learners; offers responsive, high-quality service; helps oversee all evening library operations and secure the library at closing; walks through and staffs library stacks floors; shelves books and retrieves holds; operates library equipment; works on on-going and special projects such as displays, library events, book repair, shelf reading, and shifting in collaboration with staff; helps supervise student library assistants when needed; and provides substitute staffing to cover snow emergency days and staff absences when possible.
The anticipated schedule for this position is Tuesday-Thursday, 5-9 p.m., and Saturday, 11-7. The person in this position works only during the academic year (September-May). Start date will be late August.
