The Ottauquechee School in Hartford, VT seeks a dynamic and dedicated library media specialist. We are a PreK-5 school with an enrollment of just over 200 students and a highly collaborative culture. Our library media specialist has a unique role in the school. The Newmarket Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking a Library Director who is experienced, enthusiastic, innovative, and very public service orientated.  The Director oversees a staff of 1 full-time and 5 part-time employees, a collection of approximately 37,000 items, and an annual budget of $325,260.

The Library Director reports to the Board of Trustees and plans, implements, and manages all services to the public; including library operations, personnel selection and supervision, collection development, establishing new programming that is innovative, creative and responsive to the needs of the community, policy management, annual budget preparation and fiscal management of the library facility.

Applications must have an ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science, strong communication skills, administrative and supervisory experience.

The candidate should be well organized, have excellent written and verbal skills, be current with the latest technological resources and have the ability to establish working relationships with town officials, community leaders and boards, and the general public to provide a community-centered town library for the town of Newmarket, New Hampshire.  This is a full time position with full benefits.  Salary range is $55,000 – 62,000.

Public Services Librarian – Northfield Mount Hermon School (Mount Hermon, MA)

Northfield Mount Hermon, an independent co-educational boarding school in western Massachusetts, seeks a Public Services Librarian to join the staff of Schauffler Library for the 2021-2022 school year. Working closely with a small team of colleagues, the Public Services Librarian supports the mission of Northfield Mount Hermon by helping members of the campus community find, access, use, and create information in support of their academic and personal interests and growth.

This position includes primary responsibility for the library’s circulation, reserve, and interlibrary loan functions, including hiring, training, and supervising 10-15 part-time student aides; serving as a liaison to one or more academic departments, teaching library instruction sessions, creating instructional materials, and participating in collection development and outreach; coordinating and maintaining the library’s production equipment, including 2D and 3D printers; and communicating with Campus Safety and Plant & Properties regarding library hours and building issues. This job also includes evening and weekend library duty.

The ideal applicant will have a master’s degree in library science (M.L.S or M.L.I.S.) from an ALA-accredited institution and at least one year’s professional experience with circulation, public services, and/or reference, preferably in an academic or school library. We will consider outstanding candidates who are close to finishing their degree programs.

Additional qualifications include excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a demonstrated capacity to work effectively with colleagues and other members of the community, and an ability to work evenings and occasional weekends.

Candidates should possess a demonstrated interest in making a positive impact on the lives and learning of adolescents, experience in diversity work, and an eagerness to work with a diverse student body in a boarding school environment.
