The Position

The Wilder Memorial Library in Weston, VT is seeking a dynamic, creative, community-oriented and mission-driven individual, a self-starter who believes in the power of libraries to transform both communities and individuals. As Director, this person will guide the Library into an exciting future in our newly renovated and expanded library scheduled to reopen in the spring of 2026. The primary responsibilities of the Library Director are to:

  • Envision, create, and implement effective and creative programs and services for the community and be an advocate for the Library

  • Hire, coach, and evaluate employees and volunteers
  • Manage the annual budget, grant writing, and assist the Board with fundraising
  • Oversee the daily operations of the facility
  • Collaborate with library staff (two part-time staff) and Board of Trustees

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in Library Science or a related field, although applicable work experience will be considered. The successful candidate will be encouraged to work toward a Vermont Public Library certificate if they do not have a degree in Library Science, and must be willing to pursue continuing education to stay current in library science.

Management and supervisory experience is desired as is proficiency with or a willingness to learn certain software such as QuickBooks and Squarespace. Excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary and fundraising and financial management skills are desirable. This is a community-facing position and the right candidate should be able to engage the public in a positive manner; think creatively to identify the needs of the library and community; and create partnerships within the broader community. This position reports to the Board of Trustees.

Hours and Salary

This position is for a minimum of 20 hours a week, including some Saturday hours and some evenings. Pay ranges between $24-$27 hour depending upon experience. Benefits include time off for vacation and personal time.

About the Library

Wilder Memorial Library is a 125 year old municipal library housed in a 200 year old historic building with a collection of 2930 items. In 2025 we began an expansion project to honor the history of the library while adding 1300 square feet including ADA accessibility, a newly-designed children’s room, space for community events, and an open-design main floor. The town of Weston has over 600 residents and there are currently 916 registered patrons who check out an average of 220 items per month.

Circulation Coordinator – Champlain College Library (Burlington, VT)

Job Description:

Circulation Coordinators supervise library circulation services in the Champlain College Library, oversee the facility and circulation systems, carry out projects, and supervise student employees. There are 6 – 8 Circulation Coordinators working concurrently, so flexibility with scheduling is required.

Key Responsibilities: 

Circulation and Facility Management

  • Provide library circulation services to the Champlain College community.
  • Oversee, as well as open and close, the Miller Information Commons facility, home to the library, Office of Accessibility, SMARTspace, computer lab, maker space, study rooms, conference rooms, offices, and classrooms.
  • Answer questions regarding circulation, the library and the College.

Student Employee Supervision

Project Coordination

  • Manage progress on projects on an ongoing and regular basis. Projects include but are not limited to collection weeding, book shifting, inventory, creating forms, shelf reading, and multimedia initiatives. Manage student project teams and coordinate project timelines to ensure successful completion.
  • Add and edit library information in a dynamic wiki.

Additional Library Services

  • May coordinate course reserves with faculty and process course reserves to ensure timely availability for patrons.
  • May contribute to interlibrary loan services, including processing requests and coordinating with partner institutions.
  • May assist with library programming initiatives and events as needed.
  • May support other library functions and duties as assigned by the Access Services Administrator.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proactively manages assigned responsibilities while anticipating and addressing emerging needs.
  • An undergraduate degree with 2-4 years of recent customer service and employee supervisory experience (or equivalent combination of experience, training and education).
  • Ability to work independently in a position of responsibility.
  • Experience with common computer applications such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, etc.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and passion for mentoring young adults with a variety of needs and backgrounds.

Additional Information:

Working Arrangement:

  • Part-time role, between 6 – 19 hours per week.
  • Position works primarily during the academic year. Part-time hours will be scheduled during the following times, with flexibility required:
    • Sunday-Thursday evenings from 5 – 10 pm
    • Friday evenings 5 – 8 pm
    • Saturdays noon – 7 pm
    • Sunday afternoons noon- 5pm
  • During peak periods in the semester, there are extended hours beyond the above timeframe. Occasional weekday morning shifts are also possible in this position.

Compensation:

  • Hourly Wage: 17.83/hour

Youth Services Library Assistant- Lebanon Public Libraries (Lebanon NH)

The Youth Services Library Assistant is responsible for providing children’s programs, services, and information to children, their caregivers, and other library patrons; providing instruction and access to materials; purchasing print and non-print materials for the children’s collection; general reference and circulation services.

Library Director – Greensboro Free Library (Greensboro, VT)
