Librarian Responsibilities:

  • Maintain library space in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Order library books to keep collection updated
  • Coordinate Birthday Books program, including updating Amazon Wishlist and writing thank you notes to families
  • Monitor library for checking in/out books
  • Gain and maintain fluency in Destiny and Titlepeek
  • Barcoding and cataloguing classroom texts
  • Assist teachers/students re: books, materials and library skills
  • Meet once weekly with Lower School classes (K-5) for read aloud, activities, introduction to new books, and library skills

 The New Salem Public Library Trustees are seeking applications for a Library Director who will be responsible for curating a library that welcomes everyone, inspires a love of reading and learning, and connects people with engaging programs and resources.

The New Salem Public Library is our community cultural center. It is a place where we gather for learning, creating projects, reading aloud to groups as well as our main resource center. Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of library experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional or Subprofessional Certificate of Librarianship from the MBLC or agreement to complete the work for this in the first 5 years of employment.
  • Certificate of Special Training in Basic Library Techniques from the MBLC or agreement to complete the work for this in the first 5 years of employment.
