Saint Michael’s College Library invites applications for the position of Associate Director for Systems and Web Development. Reporting to the Library Director, this individual supports and oversees library systems and the digital infrastructure that forms the foundation for all library services, including the library management system, discovery system, and website. The Associate Director for Systems and Web Development ensures optimal performance of the library’s integrated, cloud-based management platform, works closely with other members of the library staff on a range of technical and systems related tasks, and manages and supports the Library’s Discovery layer, link resolver, and single-sign-on authentication system. Within a team environment, shared responsibilities include Research & Instruction services, teaching, and serving as on-duty substitute for the Circulation Supervisor, opening and closing the library as needed.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Manages and supports library management systems, platforms, and software. Serves as lead administrator for library management system (FOLIO), ensuring that all internal systems and software including acquisitions, cataloging, and circulation are functioning optimally
  • Provides technical expertise, day-to-day administration, and broad support for traditional and emerging library software solutions and standards
  • Serves as the library’s principal liaison to the SMC Information Technology Dept, systems and metadata providers, and vendors
  • Collaborates with library staff to design, develop, and maintain the library website

What is NAEP?

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), often called The Nation’s Report Card, is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students in public and private schools in the United States know and are able to do in various subjects. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, NAEP has been conducted since 1969 and is often considered the “gold standard” in large-scale assessments.

In-school data collectors

NAEP needs staff to conduct the assessments at grades 4, 8, and 12 for the NAEP 2024 program. Summary
The Patron Services and Outreach Coordinator provides friendly, timely, and courteous service to patrons in-library and off-site. This position is responsible for performing patron service, technology assistance and general clerical work at the Help Desk. Librarian – Mary Blood Memorial Library (West Windsor, VT)

The Mary Blood Memorial Library is searching for a new Librarian.  This position is currently 16 hours per week, though this could increase.  The Librarian oversees one 12 hour per month Library Assistant and one part-time Youth Services Coordinator, scheduled for 10 hours per month. The Librarian meets with the library board once a month and reports to both the library board and the town select board.

Primary duties are to create a warm and welcoming resource for the community. As the sole librarian, duties include applying professional standards in collection development, programming, reference, cataloging, scheduling, managing personnel, planning, and service to the community. As a member of GMLC using KOHA, this year we began to digitize the contents of the 123 year old library.

West Windsor (and the village of Brownsville) has a small and widely dispersed population of about 1,300 people. Our library is supported by a very active “Friends of the MLB” organization.  We have an amazing general store and café, a community run ski and recreation area, an active historical society, a volunteer fire department, and our Albert Bridge K-6 elementary school. We are located about ten miles west of Route 91 at the base of Mt. Ascutney.

The Mary Blood Memorial Library has recently undergone many improvements, including;

  • installation of a state-of-the-art HVAC system
  • insulated the lower level
  • redesigned the main reading room, purchasing comfortable and attractive seating
  • culled the collection of outdated material and with carefully selected contemporary books
  • digitizing our collection (ongoing)  and created a user-friendly web site (will go live soon)
