Library Aide – The Schafer Family Library at Kimball Union Academy (Meriden, NH)
Library Director – Sterling College’s Brown Library (Craftsbury Common, VT)
Overview
The Library Director is the primary librarian for Sterling College’s Brown Library. The Director manages the library collections, oversees the library facility, and supervises student Library Assistants in the Work Program. The Library Director reports to the Dean of Academics.
This position is a part-time role (0.5 FTE), with specific working hours flexible and negotiable but required to meet the needs of the college. Start date is as soon as possible.
Position Responsibilities
- Collection Development: Evaluate, purchase, and catalog print and digital resources, accepting recommendations and requests from faculty and students.
- Systems Management: Manage Koha, an integrated library system, and EZproxy, a web proxy server. Work with CLOVER, the statewide interlibrary loan system. Contribute to updates of the library’s website.
- Budget: Prepare and manage an annual library budget.
- Reports & Evaluation: Submit an annual report for the library. Analyze statistics and database usage reports.
- Services: Assist and instruct library patrons in accessing and using print and electronic resources, and library equipment. Support circulation services and provide interlibrary loan for additional books and articles.
- Library & Research Instruction: Conduct library orientations for new students and faculty and support use of library resources by classes upon request. Work individually with students and faculty on research needs.
- DEI Culture: Support the advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility efforts at the library, making positive contributions to a culture of inclusion and respect.
- Work Program: Participate in the Work College program as a supervisor of 2 to 3 Library Assistant students.
- Committees & Councils: Participate in Faculty Council as an ex officio member, and other faculty teams, committees, and task forces as necessary.
- Professional Development: Maintain relevant and current knowledge of library best practices through professional development and attendance at conferences and workshops. Participate in organizations such as the Vermont Consortium of Academic Libraries (VCAL) and the Vermont Library Association (VLA). Attend required college-wide professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in either Library Science/Information Science, or in a subject relating to Sterling College’s curriculum,
- Previous experience in librarianship and commitment to pursuing professional development in library studies and information science.
- Commitment to the Sterling mission of ecological thinking and action
- Demonstrated commitment to pedagogy that integrates multicultural perspectives in the curriculum and promotes inclusion in the classroom
- Strong IT skills and experience with the use of digital resources to support student learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills, including financial and statistical record-keeping techniques
Preferred Qualifications
- MLS in Library Science or related field
- Experience with Koha, Interlibrary Loan, and other integrated library systems
- Experience with adoption of new technologies to support greater access to library resources and other learning assets.
What We Offer:
This is a half-time, exempt, at-will position, with a projected annual salary of $24,000 – $26,000, based on experience. Benefits include:

Assistant Director – Richards Free Library (Newport, NH)
The Richards Free Library of Newport NH seeks a tech savvy, forward-thinking individual with proven management skills in a public library to serve as Assistant Director.
Our library is a 501(c)3 non-profit entity. The building is an 1899 colonial revival mansion that has been on the national registry of historic buildings since 1984. The Board of Trustees for the library consists of 1 elected member and 8 appointed members. Employing 9 staff members, 3 of those full-time, we are open 47 hours weekly.
With 2400 registered patrons in a town with a population of 6300, we enjoy wide community support. Our regular programming includes a robust summer reading program for all ages, after school programs for children and teens, monthly programs for adults, and 6 book clubs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Manages the library and supervises staff in the absence of the library director.
- Attends department head meetings in the absence of the library director.

Program Technician II – Vermont Dept. of Libraries (Barre, VT)
The Vermont Department of Libraries is seeking a Program Technician II for the ABLE Library, Vermont’s Library for the Blind and Print Disabled. This position is the main point of contact for library patrons, providing exemplary customer service to members of the ABLE Library, and answering inquiries from the public and library staff around the state. The Program Technician reports directly to the Director of the ABLE Library and works in close partnership with Department staff, key stakeholders in other state agencies, and relevant federal agencies.
As the Program Technician II, your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and processing applications for service from new patrons.
- Communicating with caregivers, educators, medical and other service providers regarding program information, services, and customer needs.
- Performing reference and readers’ advisory services to patrons and referring patrons to other community resources as appropriate.

Library Director – Richmond Free Library (Richmond, Vermont)
Richmond Free Library is a vital and valued institution in our community and we are looking for an experienced and passionate Library Director who will continue to build strong relationships, create vibrant programs and curate a collection that meet the needs of a diverse group of patrons. The Library Director will work closely with the Trustees to keep the library financially sound, develop and implement Strategic Plans, and foster a welcoming environment for all.
Our Library: Richmond Free Library is a public, municipal library, funded by the voters as part of the Town budget and governed by an elected Board of Trustees. Our library serves the 4,167 citizens of Richmond and the 1,301 residents of Bolton and is part of Vermont’s Home Card system. The library is housed in a circa 1879 repurposed church owned by the Town of Richmond in the heart of our walkable downtown. The Library also houses a community meeting space which is used for programming, town government and nonprofit organizations and is rented to the public.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees all library operations and activities.

Library Director – Troy Public Library (Troy, NY)
The Board of Trustees of the Troy Public Library is seeking a community-minded, forward-thinking individual to serve in the position of Library Director. Position
The Library Director is responsible for directing, planning, organizing, and coordinating all aspects of public library services and the work of the library and the staff.

Youth Services Librarian – Jeudevine Memorial Library (Hardwick, VT)
The Youth Services Librarian is responsible for all aspects of library service relevant to patrons from birth through young adulthood and their families. HOURS AND COMPENSATION
20-hour work week is generally split over three days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Part-time employees receive some paid holiday, personal, sick, and vacation hours. $19.65/hour.
