General Purpose
This position reports to the Technology Librarian/Technician Director and is responsible for supporting the public in using the Library’s computers, printers, copiers, scanners and fax machines. The Library Computer Assistant is responsible for assisting the public in using various software applications in the Library Tech Center, assisting card holders in signing on to the public computers through our time management system, and issuing guest passes to non-card holders. Provide instructional services in both individual and group settings. These services include one-on-one technology support to community members that include: signing up & using library online services; setting up and managing email accounts; assisting with basic technology needs for job seeking; assisting with basic technology needs for housing and misc. social services; etc.
This position is also responsible for maintaining, setting up, and resolving issues with the Library’s computers and troubleshooting hardware and software problems. This position also assists with strategy for the library’s computers and networks, as well as recommends equipment and software.
